About xcross.gg

xcross.gg is a speedcubing app with a session timer, algorithm trainers, an algorithm library, solve reconstructions, ranked runs and multiplayer rooms. It is built for cubers who want to get faster by drilling what slows them down.

How xcross.gg trains you

xcross.gg training rests on three things: adaptive training with criteria, separate stats for each trainer, and continuous training with a smart cube. We think this is the most effective way to learn algorithms.

What is adaptive training?

Adaptive mode serves the cases you are weakest at more often, based on your own stats over a period you choose. You can also set a time limit as a criterion, so a slow rep counts as a DNF.

Cases you have never trained come first, and the ranking updates every 10 reps. In recall and transition trainers you choose whether weak means total time or, with a smart cube, recognition or execution time. Those trainers also get an unneeded moves check as a criterion. In prediction trainers you choose duration or wrong answers.

What stats does each trainer show?

Each trainer has its own stats page. Recall trainers show your average time and its standard deviation per case, plus TPS and time to first move when you use a smart cube. Prediction, recognition and transition trainers show duration, a breakdown per case and your progress day by day.

Recall stats also include a per-case table and a case distribution, so you can see which cases hold your average back.

How does training with a smart cube work?

With a smart cube, the trainer shows a case, detects when you solve it, saves the rep and shows the next case right away. You never stop to scramble, so a session fits more reps. This works in the algorithm trainers, not for full solves.

Without a smart cube, you scramble the cube yourself, time the solve, then scramble again. We think continuous training is the best way to train today: more of each hour goes to reps, and every session gives you more stats.

The details

Is xcross.gg free?

Yes. xcross.gg is free and will always stay free: the timer, trainers, algorithm library, daily challenges, multiplayer and sync across devices cost nothing. There is also an optional subscription, xcross.gg Pro at €4.99 a month, which adds deeper analysis, more advanced tools and adaptive training.

The Supporter plan at €14.99 a month includes everything in Pro and helps fund development. Prices are in euros, per month.

Which smart cubes and timers work with xcross.gg?

xcross.gg connects over Bluetooth to GAN, MoYu and QiYi smart cubes, and to GAN smart timers. A smart cube is optional: any cube works with the timer and the trainers.

A smart cube records every turn with its timestamp, which gives you recognition and execution times, TPS and an unneeded moves check. Without one, the trainers use a keyboard or touch timer and only the total time is known.

Which puzzles are supported?

The xcross.gg timer handles 2x2 to 7x7, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, Square-1, Clock and FTO. The algorithm library is updated continually, with new algorithm sets and puzzles added over time.

Is xcross.gg available on iOS, Android and the web?

Yes. xcross.gg runs in the browser, on iOS and on Android, with one account and the same sessions on every device.

What happens to my data?

xcross.gg stores your solves and training progress in your account so they sync between devices. You can delete the account and its data at any time.
