Cross trainer
Scrambles whose optimal cross is exactly the length you choose. Time your planning and execution and track your progress over time.

How cross training works
What the cross trainer is
The cross is the first step of the CFOP method. Every scramble here has an optimal cross of exactly the length you pick, from 1 to 8 moves, so you practice crosses of a known difficulty.
How the drill works
Pick a cross color and the optimal lengths you want. Hold and release space or the screen to start, then press once the cross is solved. With a smart cube connected, the trainer guides you to the scramble from wherever your cube is and detects the cross the moment you solve it.
How to practice here
Start at a length you solve comfortably and raise it as your planning gets reliable. With a smart cube, planning and execution are timed separately and your move count is compared with the optimal. Open the solutions to compare with the shortest crosses, then retry the same case.
What does optimal cross length mean?
The number of moves in the shortest possible solution of the cross for that scramble. You choose lengths from 1 to 8 moves.
Do I need a smart cube to use the trainer?
No. Without a smart cube you start and stop the timer yourself. With one, the trainer detects the cross and times planning and execution separately.
How do I know how good my cross was?
With a smart cube your move count is compared with the optimal, and you can open the solutions to see the shortest crosses.
Why choose a cross length?
Short and long optimal crosses ask for different amounts of planning, so choosing the length lets you train the level you are at.
